RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
This research project has the scope of exploring the different ways the second generation of Balkan Muslim émigré families enact civic practices and deal with cultural identity dilemmas at the personal and collective level. It particularly aims to look at:
- how members of this second generation residing or temporarly living in Germany, Belgium, and Poland, hold and care and nurture practices of civic responsibility aimdst the rise of nativism and intollerance;
- how they response to the effects of illiberal democracy, especially in relation with forms of democratic participation and civic activism;
- how they perceive themselves vis-à-vis their Balkan family background and Western majoritarian systems;
